A newspaper clipping service reported a young boy had been badly burned when his clothes were ignited by a gas heater. The boy suffered burns to about 35 percent of his body, including his upper body and face. His recovery is expected to take at least three months.

Energy Safety understands the boy poked his t-shirt into the cabinet heater to see if the cloth would melt. The t-shirt ignited and set fire to the boy. The cause of the accident was misuse of a gas appliance.
