In November 2012, Auckland International Airport Limited engaged the Defendant as the main contractor to develop and project manage a two stage development project at The Landings, Mangere, Manukau City. The Defendant engaged Draeinail Construction Limited to install waste and storm water drainage at the site. Draeinail was the employer of the victim, a trainee drain layer. On 23 July 2013, the victim’s pelvis was fractured in 3 places when part of a trench face collapsed on him.
