About the consultation

WorkSafe New Zealand is consulting on a proposal to make an amendment safe work instrument (SWI) that would add additional items to Table 1 (substances that require a controlled substance licence) and Table 2 (substances that do not require a controlled substance licence) in Schedule 7 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017(external link)

The SWI would amend the Controlled Substance Licence Requirements for Specified Class 1 Substances Safe Work Instrument 2023 by adding further controlled substance licence requirements for specified class 1 (explosive) hazardous substances.

We invite your feedback on the proposed requirements.
